He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Georgeann Haykin and David Haykin; his siblings, Marti Haykin (Marc Snyder) and Carolyn Uhrig (Bob); and his nieces, April, Jessica, Rachael and Katie.

“To thomas haykin's family and friends, while driving to work last thursday at around 7:30 a.m. On freeport road, i immediately understood that a terrible tragedy involving a cyclist had just occurred. My thoughts immediately went to you, his loved ones. I wept the whole way to work, trying to imagine your loss. Although a stranger to you, i am reaching out today to express my heartfelt sympathies.
