She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles William and Caroline Ziefel (Maurer); her husband James Kenneth Lanz; and her siblings, Caroline Deacon and Charles Ziefel.

She is survived by: her children, Beth Kaufman, James Lanz, Jr. (Claudea) and Douglas Lanz (MaryJo); her grandchildren, Michael Lanz (Carissa), Jenna Lanz, MD (Alex Peck), Spencer Sullivan (Abby), Emily Lanz, Drew Lanz (Katlyn) and Katie Croom (Jac); her great grandchildren, Oliver, Charles, Henry, Charlotte, Hazel and Westley; and her sister Sharon Green (Warren).
