He was predeceased by: his father Victor Bertoty; his wife Cheryl Ann Bertoty (Rizzo); and his brother Timothy Bertoty. He is survived by: his children, Marcin Bertoty (Makala), Sandra Bertoty (Pete Wearing) and David Bertoty (Kahla); his granddaughter Layonna Bertoty; and his siblings, Victor Bertoty (Noreen), Fran Scott, Margaret Lopretto, Bernadette Young (Douglas) and James Bertoty. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
