He was predeceased by: his parent Thomas J. Hanney, Sr.. He is survived by: his mother Estelle E. Hanney (Golden); his siblings, Estelle Hanney, Thomas Hanney, Jr. (Judy), Patricia Bucci (Timothy), Michael Hanney (Jane), Sharon Sein (Marty) and Francis Hanney (Barbara); and his siblings' children, Alexandra, Bryan, Amber, Anastasia, Elizabeth, Bridget, Erin, Braeden, Gianna, Evan and Donovan. He is also survived by 11 great-nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Philip Neri Church.
