He is survived by: his close friend Mercedes Butler; his children, Rhonda Boomer, Robin Atkins, Jewel Taylor and Doreen White; and his brother Bernard Preston Scott of Greenville. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, one great great grandchild.
