With solemn reverence, we commemorate Edward J. McGovern of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, whose life came to an end on July 6, 2025 at the age of 76, leaving behind cherished memories. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward J. Sr. McGovern and Anne McGovern (Gallagher); and his sister Aileen Elwonger. He is survived by: his wife Carol Ann; his children, Melanie (Jason), Katie (Patrick) and Joseph (Jaclyn); his grandchildren, Grace, Avery, Liam, Emily, Ryan and Olivia; and his sister Anne Marie Helenski (Dave). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and in-laws, as well as extended friends and family.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the John F. Givnish Funeral Home (10975 Academy Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19154). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. An entombment will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery (830 Highland Rd, Newtown, PA 18940).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ed's name to the Police Survivors Fund at FOP Lodge #5.
