She was predeceased by: her husband Edward "Ted" Groody; and her brother Joseph McMahon (Patricia). She is survived by: her children, Robert (Michele), Joseph, Theresa, Michael (Kathleen) and Maureen Bretschneider; her grandchildren, Carolyn (Mike), Alexandra (PJ), Stephanie (Zak), Diana (Mark), JT (Sarah), Patrice, Sean, Christian, Camille (Ronney), Emily, Will (Bernae) and Michael (Cassie); her great grandchildren, Scottie, Charlie, Maeve, Adam, Grant, Annaleise and Oliver; her brother Gerald McMahon (Joan); and her sister-in-law Elizabeth Barnes.
A memorial gathering was held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the St. Cecilia Church (535 Rhawn St, Philadelphia, PA 19111). A Mass was held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Cecilia School or Our Lady of Perpetual Help Scholarship (https://secure.qgiv.com.) The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Arbor Terrace for the kindness, compassion, support, and exceptional care shown to Eileen during the final months of her life.
