It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alma Gilliam in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, born in Bessemer, Alabama, who passed away on August 26, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Houston King and Mamie King; her son Armon Gilliam; and her siblings, Frank, Leo, William King and Jacqueline Sherrill.

She is survived by: her sons, Gralan Gilliam, Jerrel T. Gilliam (Shannah) and Javan Gilliam (Kelly); her grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah, Josiah, Jordan, Jerrel I, Joyelle, Jada (Blake), Gentry, Wells (Kate), Cheryl (Daniel), Jeremiah (Trinity), Joshua, Torrey, Brandon and Breanne; Myrene Smith. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

“My name is Pattie Grden. Alma was part of a Bible Study that began at Step Four in Mt. Lebanon. She touched my life and the lives of the other women in that group. We loved her as if she had been our sister of 50 years. She encouraged us. She taught us. She motivated us. We missed her when the gym closed down and we moved the Bible Study to Panera. She kept saying that she’d come visit. My heart is very sad at her passing. I can imagine her loving on Jesus in her new home!”
