He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Tate and Jacqueline Tate; and his siblings, Pat, Gerry, Sandy and Chuckie.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Kenny (Cassidy); his daughters, Cindy, Helen Girvin (John) and Teri Godkin (Tim); his stepchildren, Patrick Kenny (Alisa) and Jessica Sauers; and his siblings, Darlene, Esther and Billy. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
