He was predeceased by : his parents, Peter Harbist and Mary Harbist; and his brothers, Peter Jr. and John. He is survived by : his brother Frank "Whitey" Harbist (Marianne); his niece Susan Vanselow (Bill); and his nephews, John Harbist (Elizabeth) and Frank Harbist (Martha).

Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 22nd 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Edward P. Kanai Funeral Home (500 Greenfield Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15207). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 23rd 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St John Chrysostom Church (506 Saline St, Pittsburgh, PA 15207).
