He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Kern and Dolly Kern (Brooks); his wife Zola; and his sisters, Margaret Igo, Dora Whewell and Alberta Shawhan.
He is survived by: his children, Vernon Kern (Joyce) of Parker, PA, Martha Walsh (Gary) of Middletown, RI and Theresa Lorenz (Robert, Jr.) of Pittsburgh, PA; his grandchildren, Gary Walsh, Jr. (Jennifer), Andrea Steiner (Andrew), Melissa Christian (Marc), Terri Lynn Walsh, Kristina Lorenz (Tommy) and Robert Lorenz, III; and his brother Robert Kern of Elizabeth, PA. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ed's name to the Spencer United Methodist Church 117 Spencer Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15227.
