He is survived by: his father Henry Haines; his wife Kathryn Beddow Gibson; his stepchildren, Sarah Gibson Boyle (Jeffrey) of McCandless and Adam Gibson (Stephanie) of Nashville, Tenn.; his grandchildren, Emmett and Willa Boyle; his sister-in-law Barbara Laslo; his niece Jill Bauer; his great-nephew Andrew; his great-niece Julia; his niece Lauren Whitman (Matt); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Keira and Brooke; and his cousins, Kim, Chris, John and Kelly.

The family suggests donations to the Pittsburgh Concert Chorale, Pittsburgh Opera, or the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh.
