Frances R. (Pustay) Kucia Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of:
Frances R. (Pustay) Kucia of Indiana Township, Pennsylvania, formerly McKees Rocks and Latrobe, Pennsylvania, age 94, died at home with her family present on Sunday, February 5, 2023, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Frances R. (Pustay) Kucia to pay them a last tribute.
Frances was born September 2, 1928, to the late Michael and Frances C. (Miocenec) Pustay. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by siblings Joseph and Catherine (infants), Marko (killed in combat, November 30, 1944), Mike, Anna, Steve, Mary and Kate.
Beloved mother of her devoted daughter, Gerry Pysh (and husband Don), with whom she resided. She is survived by one sister, Irene Gaston of Plum Boro, along with numerous nieces and nephews. As a proud "auxiliary" member of the Pysh clan, she is also survived by Ted, Cathy, Noreen, Paul and Meesie, along with their spouses.
Frances enjoyed bowling in several leagues around the Pittsburgh area. She regularly attended the State tournaments, as well as several National tournaments. Her bowling "claim to fame" was her 299 game, which was bowled in league play. She was also a prolific seamstress, sewing everything from drapes, curtains, bedspreads, and coats, to her daughter's cherished prom gowns.
Frances began her working career with Bell Telephone. After Bell Telephone, she worked for Kaufmann's Warehouse for many years until she decided, at age 50, to pursue a career with the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Oakland. She found her last career choice to be extremely rewarding and fulfilling, with her numerous awards as validation. She began as a Ward Secretary, and retired as Administrative Assistant to Ms. Susan Ingram, Chief, Medical Administrative Service, an accomplishment that both she and her daughter were extremely proud.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the team from AHN Home Hospice for their care and kindness.
