She was predeceased by: her parents, Leon W. Kelly and Margaret Mary Kelly (Wyrough); her husband Thomas J.; and her son Michael J. Schaefer. She is survived by: her children, Thomas L. Schaefer (Dianne) of Venetia, PA, Matthew J, Margaret Mary Schaefer (Steven Katter) of Ridgewood, NJ, John K. Schaefer (Lisa Petco-Self) of Pittsburgh and William W. Schaefer (Cathy) of Pittsburgh, PA.; and her grandchildren, Jacklyn, Alyssa, Zachary, Katherine, Jane, Cole and Lillian Schaefer.
Gene finally succumbed to her lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Alzheimer's Foundation or Special Olympics are suggested.
