He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife JoAnn Avery (McDonald); his parents, Costas Avery and Eugenia Avery (Geraleas); his children, Eugenia "Genie", Anna (Alison Gross), Constantine and William (Joanne Shaw); and his grandchildren, Sofie Avery, Grace Avery-Gross and Lily Avery-Gross.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dominican Sisters of Peace in Columbus, Ohio.
