He was predeceased by: his parents, James Ivory and Catherine Almon Freeman; and his brothers, Wayne, Theodore and Ronnie Freeman.

He is survived by: his siblings, Raymond of Steubenville, Ohio, Nathaniel Freeman of Steubenville, Ohio, Betty Bruce of Canton, Ohio, Jeanette Harris of Petersburg, Virginia, Lavert of Columbus, Ohio. and Ozella Freeman of Columbus, Ohio.. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
