She was predeceased by: her husband William P. Carroll of Geneva, NY.; her parents, Fred Arnold and Florine Geiser Arnold; and her sisters, Anna Knorr (Francis), Mildred Debold (Ed), Esther Escher (Paul), Florine Huff (Don), Rose Byrne (Mike) and Ruth Ciraula (Tony).
She is survived by: her stepsons, Robert and Jeffrey Carroll; her nieces, Janet Ries (Jerry) and Mary Joyce Byrne; her nephew Edmund "Bucky" Debold (Patty); her great-niece Joanne Ries (John D'Amico); and her great-nephew Jerry Ries (Laurie). She is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Joan requested that donations in her name be made to Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh, 6926 Hamilton Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15208.
