He was predeceased by : his parents, Vincent Paul and Elizabeth Frances Engel; and his sister Margaret Bennett. He is survived by : his wife Joann Engel; his children, Barbara Ard (Bill), Georgeanne Cluskey (Joel), Robert Engel, Jeanne Engel (Dan Geiger) and David Engel (Alexis); his grandchildren, Gregory Horvath (Allison McKnight), Christopher Cluskey, Daniel Cluskey, Zachary Engel and Madeline Engel; and his siblings, Barb Setler, Mary Parker, Kathy Macie, Vincent Engel (Pam) and Gerry Engel (Agnes).

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 9th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes (222 Washington Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15216). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, April 10th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. Bernard Church (311 Washington Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15216).
