He was predeceased by: his wife Ellen F. Gunnell; and his parents, James Gunnell and Grace Gunnell (Grunhart). He is survived by: his daughter Meg Heinlein (Chuck); his grandsons, Jacob and Brady; and his sister Eleanor "Ellie" Whiteside. He is also survived by five siblings.
