He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Marcie Karp (Zik); his children, John S. Karp, Jr. and Emily Dembowski (Aaron); his grandson Austin Dunlap; and his siblings, Esther Kasper, Sally Stuckey, Bernice Karp (Frank Karp) and Edward Karp (Jean Karp). He was also cherished by nieces and nephews.
