With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joseph E. Funtal (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 14, 2025 at the age of 99. As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Joseph may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy. He is survived by: his children, James, Vera Duchak (James), Joyce, Joseph and Michael; and his granddaughters, Kaela Meyers (Josh) and Hannah Wadding (Chris). He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 20th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, Inc. (3552 California Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15212). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Jesus Parish (1700 Harpster St, Pittsburgh, PA 15212). A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 11:15 AM to 11:30 AM at the Jesus Cemetery (1700 Harpster St, Pittsburgh, PA 15212).
