She was predeceased by: her parents, George Atkinson and Dorothy Atkinson; her son Robert Andrew Mawhinney; her brother Ray Atkinson; and her former husband Robert Earl Mawhinney.
She is survived by: her brothers, Thomas Atkinson and James Atkinson; her daughters, Megan Stephan, Jacque Zoerner and Leslie Wallis; her nephew-in-law Shannon Atkinson-Ganoe (Gary Ganoe); and her daughter-in-law Lorilee Mawhinney. She is also survived by grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that a donation be made to the American Nurses Foundation / ANA as a memorial, or to the ACLU.
