Luz Maria Gerena Obituary
We bid farewell to Luz Maria Gerena (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), whose journey of life gracefully concluded on July 13, 2025 at the age of 70. Luz touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Luz may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Luz touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her husband David Gerena; and her brothers, Rafael "Papo" Juanita "Nani" Rosa and Francisco "Pelón" Rafael "Rafi". She is survived by: her significant other George Freeman; her children, Luzmarie Gerena, Davidjohn Gerena (Maria Gerena) and Sulimarie Gerena; and her siblings, Lydia, Carmen and Jose "Tony". She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 17th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the New York.
