He was predeceased by: his parents, Gladys Carlisle and Emmett Carlisle; his stepson Joseph; and his siblings, Emmett Jr., Gladys and Marvin.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Carlisle; his children, Courtney, Marvin and Derrick; his stepson Twan (Marlene); his grandchildren, Carson, Nia, Jalen, Jordan and Taylor; and his sister Linda (Clyde). He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
