He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Shade and Wilma Shade (French). He is survived by: his wife Nancy; his daughter Beth Birkeland; his grandchildren, Lauren Shade (Ryan Nasso), Deven Schwindt, Sara Greco and Skye Birkeland; his great grandchild Claire Schroeder; and his sister Susan Gally. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
