With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Richard L. McDonald Jr. (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), who passed away on October 10, 2025 at the age of 102. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the sacred silence of farewell, Richard is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that his light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of his loved ones. And as his memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Richard's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Kay; and his children, Ann Pitassi (James), Teresa Caldwell (Bruce), Mary Guthrie (Donald), Martha McDonald (Alex Baker), Thomas McDonald (Jennifer Corwin), John and Richard McDonald. He was also cherished by ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc. (4201 Brownsville Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15227). A prayer will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 at 9:15 AM at the Our Lady of Hope Parish (5200 Greenridge Dr, Pittsburgh, PA 15236). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
The family suggests memorial contributions in Dick's name to be made to Gallagher Hospice, 1370 Washington Pike, Suite 401B, Bridgeville, PA 15017.
