He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul McGurgan and Ruth McGurgan; and his siblings, Paul, Jim, Ruth, Peg, Kate and Mary Jean.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara A. McGurgan (Pauba); his children, Thomas (Vivian) of Pittsburgh, PA, Gary (Edith) of Minneapolis, MN and Kelly of Carmichaels, PA; his siblings, Francis, Lil and Jack; and his grandchildren, Ryan, Amanda, Samantha and Joseph.
