He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin A. Coles and Lella H. Bowyer Coles; his wife Hope Coles; and his nephew Marvin Hawes, Jr.. He is survived by: his former wife Annie Willis; his brothers, Walt and Michael; his daughter Roxanne Lella Coles of Santa Barbara; his siblings, Melvin Coles of El Cajon, Donald Coles (Victoria) of Chula Vista, Walter Coles of Pittsburgh and Sharon Sloan (Milford) of Pittsburgh; and his grandchildren, Jordan Palmer of Santa Barbara and Elijah Conkrite of Christiansburg.
