He was predeceased by: his parents, Elwood C. Richards and Dorothy Tigue Richards; his son Elwood "Woody" Richards; his sister Dorothy Richards; his daughter Ann DePetro; and his granddaughter Denise DePetro.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Best Richards; his granddaughters, Jaime, Karen and Cathy Richards; his daughter-in-law Jodi Richards of Pittston; his sister-in-law Jane Melvin; and his cousin Michael Tigue (Diane). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
