He was predeceased by : his parents, Gerald A. Baer and Cleda Baer (Mock); and his siblings, Wayne C. Smith, Milton Smith and Elizabeth Smith.
He is survived by : his wife Betty L. Smith (Mulhollen); his children, Gerald "Buddy" Smith III (Wendy) and Betty Jane Smith; his grandson Cory Smith (Hannah); his great grandchild Wyatt Smith of Portage; and his siblings, Jean Smith (Theresa), James Smith (Joan), Wilbert Smith (Linda), Galen "Honeyboy" Smith, Mae Miller, Shirley Smith and Patricia Chapman.
