With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joseph F. Burns Sr. of Pottsville, Pennsylvania, who passed away on October 1, 2025 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his mother Rita Francis W. (Schauer). He is survived by: his wife Cecilia Burns (Muldowney); his children, Joann Burns (Michael Pogirski) of Pottsville, Joseph F. Burns, Jr. (Christine) of Orwigsburg and Bridget Burns of Pottsville; his grandchildren, Matthew Seltzer (Kelley Novogratz), Michael Seltzer (Danielle Mates), Cassidy Burns, Ethan Burns, Reese Burns, Jani Burns (Damien Whalen), Jasper Burns, Jakob Burns (Morgan Kromanocker), Nicholas Kerby (Maddie Consugar), Carter Kerby, Joseph and Faith Schwartz; his great grandchild Harvey Joseph Whalen; and his siblings, Annmarie (Steve Zinda) of Seltzer City and Kevin Burns (James Rayner) of Media, PA. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Lord Ebling Haus Funeral Home & Crematory (1818 Mahantongo St, Pottsville, PA 17901). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
