He was predeceased by: his parents, Gustavo Ocasio Abreu and Carmen Plaza; his stepmother Ermalinda Ocasio; and his brothers, Luis Antonio Ocasio and Joseph Ocasio.
He is survived by: his wife Sylvia E. Ocasio (Dorta); his children, Jose Luis "Lou" Ortiz (Yolanda) of Muhlenberg Township, Carmen Cleary (William) of Muhlenberg Township and Maria Ocasio (late Bryson Merritt) of Connecticut; his grandchildren, Alyx, Zachary, Nevaeh, Austin, Samantha, Megan and Isaiah; his great grandchildren, Alaric, Madalyn, Emily, Steven, Sophia, Colin and Owen; and his siblings, Adelaide Gonzalez, Irma Muniz, Dennis Ocasio and Thamara Velez. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
