He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Garl and Melva Garl (Parkyn); and his former wife Barbara A. Garl (Oponski). He is survived by: his spouse Shirley A. Garl (Kwalewski); his sons, Christopher S. Garl and Jan K. Garl; his grandchildren, Ty J. Garl, Emily Marie Garl and Evelyn Garl; and his siblings, Curtis Garl, Barry Garl and Diane "Cookie" Dietrich.
