He was predeceased by: his parents, Carmela (Calerba) and Luigi Avanzato; and his son Jon Louis Avanzato. He is survived by: his daughters, Jolene Ewing (Kelley Ewing) of West Norriton and Jodi Avanzato; his close friend C. Andrew Hess of Robesonia; and his son J. Jeffrey Avanzato of Muhlenberg. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
