He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray W. Johnson and Pearl Johnson (Jackson); and his brother William H. Jackson. He is survived by: his grandson Ray IV; his family Ray; his children, Ray W. Johnson III (Holly A. Johnson) and Rae D. Johnson-Bundy (John L. Bundy); his grandchildren, Ashley Rae Brown, Taylor Rae Barnes and Ray W. Johnson IV; his great grandchild Jayvion Ray Farrar-Brown; his wife Shirley M. Johnson (Prentice); his children, Willard D. George Sr. (Jody George) and Cheryl M. Brown (late Michael E. Brown Sr.); and his grandchildren, Marla Waldbiesser, Nikita Ross, Willard D. George Jr. and Austin Cassidy Bundy. He is also survived by Eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
