He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Mills Lewis Baber and William Wilmer Baber; his wife Margaret Susannah Uhrig Baber; his grandson Christian Meriwether Baber Kennedy; and his brother Robert Lewis Baber.

He is survived by: his daughter Anne Margaret Baber Wallis (Matthew Edward Clifford); his grandson Alexander William Edward Wallis; his son William Wilmer Baber III (Hiroko Matsushita Baber) of Kyoto; and his grandchildren, Romi Isabel Baber and Maya Lewis Baber.
