He was predeceased by: his parents, Clair Hackenberg and Ida Mae Hackenberg (Benner); his stepdaughters, Nancy Snyder and Carol Troutman; and his siblings, Lester Hackenberg, Robert Hackenberg, John Hackenberg, Donald Hackenberg, Ellsworth "Nick" Hackenberg, Anna Mae Bowersox, Helen Zechman, Doretha Weider, Julia Nerhood and Mildred Pfleggor.
He is survived by: his stepchildren, Clair "Butch" Troutman, Judy Highsmith (Jim), Darla Gabriel (Bill), Dennis Kantz (Annette) and Lou Ann Rhoads (Ronald); his son-in-law John Snyder; and his sisters-in-law, Lillian Hackenberg and Beatrice Hackenberg. He is also survived by grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Good News Lutheran Brethren Church (32868 Rte 35 N, McAlisterville, PA 17049). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
