He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde W. Clites and Iva Pearl Clites Bowser (Sides); and his siblings, Pamela Bowser and Calvin Bowser. He is survived by: his wife Mary A. Clites (Robinson); his sons, Michael E. Clites (Melissa) and Mark T. Clites (Debbie); his grandsons, Brent, Matt, Andrew and Daniel; his great grandchildren, Cecelia, Alice, Leeland and Lily; and his siblings, Paul Clites and Mary Shaffer.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Kelso Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd. (725 Norland Ave, Chambersburg, PA 17201). A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church (320 Philadelphia Ave, Chambersburg, PA 17201). A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Parklawn Memorial Gardens (3218 Philadelphia Ave, Chambersburg, PA 17201).

Memorial donations in Melvin's name may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Ministry at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
