He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Briggs and Ruth Briggs; his grandson Thomas Pennsion; his nephew Alexander Gable; his siblings, Deborah Boughton and Robert Joran; his brother-in-law Joseph Hale Jr.; and his niece Sherry Boughton.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Briggs; his children, Kesha Belles (Jon), Heather Briggs (Joshua) and James Briggs Jr. (Nicole); his grandchildren, Cassandra Martz (Adam Robets), Kendall Martz, Connor Chapman (Alex), Paige (Ryan Russell), Sean (Alison Satow), Douglas Myers (Yeniffer), Aiden, Austin and Adeline Briggs; and his siblings-in-law, Thomas, James Hale, Cheryl Hale and Kelly Gable. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 1st 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Church of Epiphany (304 S Elmer Ave, Sayre, PA 18840). A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, September 2nd 2025 at 9:30 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, September 2nd 2025 at the Tioga Point Cemetery (803 N Main St, Athens, PA 18810).
