She was predeceased by: her parents, Donald Schwartz and Sarah Jane Schwartz (Frankenstein); and her husband Melvin M. Gilbert, Sr.. She is survived by: her children, Melvin M. Gilbert, Jr., Marlo A. Kershner (Mike), Melissa E. Strauch (John) and Martin D. Gilbert (Rebecca); her grandchildren, Melvin Gilbert III, Jonah Gilbert (Michala), Cassie Deaven (Dakota), Casey Kershner, Hunter Strauch, Jacob Gilbert and Aaron Gilbert; her great grandchildren, Mya Gilbert, Eliza Deaven and Archer Gilbert; and her sister Sally Houseknecht. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
