He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Richard Byers and Sarah Frances "Frankie" Nackoul Byers; his spouse Stacey A. Altman; his children, Erin Altman of Pittsburgh, Emily of Fredericksburg, Alexis of Fredericksburg, Robert of Fredericksburg, Olivia of Fredericksburg and Gia Byers of Fredericksburg; and his siblings, Richard Byers (Kim) of Enterprise Alabama and Barbara Gooch (James) of Claysville. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
