Arthur A. Freeman Obituary
Arthur "Al" Alexander Freeman peacefully passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026. He was 83 years old.
Al was born November 11, 1942 in Boston, Massachusetts, but grew up in the Philadelphia area of Pennsylvania where his love for cars and mechanics was born. He carried this love with him throughout his life, adopting the hobby of car restoration, as well as buying, selling, and trading, spending many afternoons at local auctions. There wasn't a vehicle on the road that he could not identify the make and model of, along with the year it was built, and a detail that made it different from all the rest.
A proud United States combat wounded Army veteran, Al served his country with honor and integrity from 1964 to 1967 during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his courageous and life saving actions and would later continue to dedicate his time to helping not only his fellow brothers, but also younger veterans returning from overseas. His pride, love, and respect for his fellow veterans and his country remained unwavering throughout his days.
A devoted father of three daughters, he never missed a sporting event, holiday concert, or award ceremony. Though he was plenty busy as both a highly skilled mechanic and carpenter having restored almost as many homes as he did cars, he still found time to teach his girls how to swim, ride a bike, fish, and play sports, with just enough time left in the day to still take them to the park and for ice cream.
As an antique car enthusiast, Al rarely missed a local car show, forming many friendships and bonds over the years. Embracing the life of "snowbirds," he and his beloved wife, Cindy, split their time between the states of Florida and Pennsylvania and were well known in their communities for their outgoing, kind, and generous nature.
Above all else, Al was known for his dedication to his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, wisdom, and strength to those who knew and loved him most. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 29 years, Cindy; his daughters, Carissa (Carson) of Melrose, FL, Jennifer (Tony) of Howell, MI, and Denise (Scott) of Clifton Township, PA; his stepson, Sid (Ava) of Moosic, PA; 18 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, all of whom he treasured his time with and will miss him deeply.
A celebration of Al's life will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Allied Services Hospice Center for their wonderful care.
