She was predeceased by : her parents, Jewerel W. McGowan Sr. and Audrey McGowan; her grandparents, Willis Webster and Daisy McGowan; and her siblings, Sharon Denise McGowan, Gwendolyn Mc Gowan Seagroves and Lloyd McGowan.

She is survived by : her children, Shantonya F. James and Gregory M. James; her spouse Kimble; her children, Joycelyn V. McGowan, Patrick McGowan (Renee) of Scranton, PA, Kimble McGowan of Baltimore, MD, Chris McGowan (Patricia) of Windsor Mill, MD, Cassandra Boyd of Ellicott City, MD and Shatonya James-Gilliam (Wendy) of Detroit, MI; her grandchildren, Capri Hirschler, Luvrell McGowan, NeShane McGowan, Breauna Brister, Shanelle McGowan, Brittney Green, Madison Boyd, Mya Boyd and Brandon Boyd; her great grandchildren, LaMya, Aymal, Daniel, Amyla, Kaden, MaLya and Noah; her siblings, Jewerel W. McGowan Jr. (Diane) of Adriane, MI, Bobby E. McGowan (Gloria) of New Brunswick, NJ, Henry A. McGowan of Scranton, PA and Constance Johnson of Foxworth, MS; and her friend Shirley Parks of Bethlehem, PA. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
