Dorothy A. Murphy Obituary
Dorothy Huber Murphy, 86, of Scranton, entered eternal rest unexpectedly Friday at Geisinger Community Medical Center. Her beloved husband James J., died June 23, 1975. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Casper and Mary Jane Griffiths Huber. Until her retirement, Dorothy worked for Moses Taylor Hospital, in their central service department for many years.
She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Patrick's Church, Scranton. Her family, especially her grandchildren were the center of her life. She was "Miss Studebaker"in 1949. Each morning Dorothy enjoyed doing the jumble puzzles in the newspaper, playing pinnacle with her sisters and crocheting blankets for her family.
She was an excellent cook, baker and griller, who will be deeply missed by her family. Surviving are four children; Maureen Mancuso and husband, Tom, Archbald; Mariann Moran and husband, Jerry, Scranton; James J. Murphy and wife, Eleanor, Clarks Summit and Michele Moffat and husband, Stephen, Wrightstown, NJ; six grandchildren, James Patrick Murphy; Tommy and Caroline Mancuso; James Gerard Moran; and Maggie and Stephen Moffat; a sister, Margaret Shuba, Johnson City, NY; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her siblings; Carl Huber, Mildred Thomas, Albert Huber, Ruth Odell, Elizabeth Maline, Robert Huber, Marian Heusner, June Green, Eleanor Thomas, infant Walter David Huber and Walter William Huber. Family and friend are invited to attend Dorothy funeral which will begin on Wednesday at 9:15 am from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Patrick's Church 1403 Jackson St., Scranton.
Interment Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Township, PA. Friends may call Tuesday 5 to 8 PM.
