Karen A. Nicholls Obituary
Karen A. Nicholls of Scranton passed away Monday at home.
Born in North Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Albert Nicholls and Margaret Ruane, also stepdaughter of Clifford Hadley III.
She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, and prior to her retirement she was employed by Acme Supermarket for over 20 years.
Karen immersed herself in her nieces' and nephews' lives. She attended events such as football games, baseball games, track meets, equestrian competitions, karate matches and dance recitals, where she was always the loudest fan amongst the crowd. Her love and effortless support influenced and enriched the lives of friends and family. She coached and played girls softball, refereed basketball games, and loved to travel when possible. As an adult she expanded her education by obtaining certification as a lab technician. Open to trying new things and taking on various roles, she held a position as president at the Washington West Highrise Association for several years.
Surviving is a sister, Michele Hadley, and husband, Harry Esgro; brother-in-law, Gene Domozych; nephew, Scott Domozych, and wife Lori Domozych; nieces, Meghan Slowey, and Kelsey Slowey; great nephews and great niece, Collin, Aiden, and Alayna Domozych; extended family, Kaylee Bedford-Labatch, Jordan Jones, and Travis Jones.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Domozych.
A celebration of Karen's life will be held on Friday, February 4th at La Buona Vita, 200 Reilly St. Dunmore at 5 PM.
