With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Marie Carmel Russell of Scranton, Pennsylvania, who passed away on August 8, 2025 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Joseph Harry Russell; and her parents, Edmund Paff and Rachel Popoli Paff. She is survived by: her children, Mary Margaret Smirne (Michael), Jean Marie Rivera (José) and Joseph Russell; her grandchildren, Rosario Smirne (Arioth) and Maria Smirne; her great grandchildren, Dominic, Rocco and Luca Smirne; her granddaughter Antonia Piccini; and her caregivers, Donna, Marlynn, Christine, Jennifer and Marie. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 30 E.D. Preate Drive, Suite 108, Moosic, PA 18507.
