“Fondly and respectfully remembering dr. Matthew fairbanks, my philosophy professor at the university of scranton in 1966 and 67. Bacon to hume, american philosophy and phil of science were the courses i remember. Dr. Fairbanks-easy going and undogmatic-had a way of deflating the intellectual pretensions and the egomaniacal one-upmanship often found in philosophy courses. Introduced me to peirce.
