Thomas left this world on January 14, 2026 at the age of 74, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank R. Hughes and Mildred Langan Hughes; his brothers, Leo and Robert Hughes; his parents-in-law, Murray and Muriel "Moonie" Stone Smith; and his siblings-in-law, Herb Smith and Fern Ellen Smith Tepper.
He is survived by: his wife Helene Smith Hughes; and his sister-in-law Abigail Smith. He is also survived by two nieces and four nephews, and five great-nieces and great-nephews.
