He was predeceased by: his former spouse Mark Whitehead; and his brother Ralph Whitehead. He is survived by: his wife Judith Whitehead; his daughter Cate Whitehead (Dave); his former spouses, Anne Whitehead (Dan), David and Dean Whitehead; his siblings-in-law, Jessica Abrams, Jim Abrams and Janice Abrams; his grandchildren, Chris (Tania) and Rick Whitehead; and his great grandchild Rowan.
