He was predeceased by : his parents, Hugh Bird and Grace Bird; and his siblings, Russell, Harold and Alice.

He is survived by : his wife Shirley; his children, Thomas Harold Bird (Cindy) and Carol Lynn Baljunas (Mike); his grandchildren, Ronald, Robert Bird, Alyssa and Jenna Baljunas; his great grandchild Nicholas Bird; and his nieces, Ellen Nagel and Conny Arbochus.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Maple Lake United Methodist Church.

“Worked with Bob many times. He was always a pro at railroading. Only time I saw him upset was when his pipe fell out of the engine window and he did not have a spare. Just a great guy to be around, and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. I hope your ride on the "westbound" will have all green signals. My thoughts go out to his family. Will miss you Bob!
